Beautiful area to get away. Cabins could use some updating.
They have really put a lot of work into this place from when I was a kid. Spent the weekend here and caught more than enough fish.
This park is beautiful, whether you go for hiking or for fishing. If you go for a nice place to relax in Nature, this is also the place for you. I hiked and camped in this park twice now. Both times there were storms, but nothing my tent could not handle. People were friendly and the buildings were clean.
Lived close to lake wapello all my life. Always popular and well maintained, perfect escape for a farmboy on a hot august afternoon.
Rented a cabin here for our family vacation in July. The park and lake were well maintained, cabin was clean and perfect for us. My kids loved the beach. In addition to swimming, we were able to rent kakays and stand-up paddle boards. The boat house also has some concession items, fishing bait and huge bundles of fire wood available for purchase. Overall we were very happy with our experience at Lake Wapello. My only complaint is that the hiking trails are poorly marked and perhaps need an update.
